What a trade website has to do.

People often look for a tradesperson on their phone, sometimes with a job that can't wait. The site's job is to make calling you the easy next step.

  1. One tap to call or WhatsApp

Your number at the top of every page and in a call button on phones, so nobody has to hunt for it.

  2. The areas you cover

Towns and postcodes in plain words, so a customer knows straight away whether you'll come to them.

  3. Your own work

Photos of real jobs, not stock pictures. It's the first thing people look for.

  4. A quote form that reaches you

A short form that arrives in your inbox, for the people who'd rather not ring.

I design a site for a local business before it asks, to show the owner what theirs could be. These are some of the trade ones. Names, numbers and reviewers are blurred, and none of them claims results.

What it costs.

Fixed prices, agreed in writing before anything starts. Most trades need the Business site: a page for each main service and the areas you cover. A sole trader starting out can begin with Starter and add pages later.

How much should a website cost? An honest UK price guide

What you pay after launch.

This is where a cheap website often gets expensive, so here it is in full.

No hosting fee.
Nothing you have to keep paying me, and a short fix period after launch is included.
Care, £29 a month, optional.
Monitoring, update checks and small content changes each month. Cancel any time.
Anything else, £50 an hour.
Agreed before I start, so there are no surprise bills.
No VAT to add.
I’m not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Payment.
Half to begin, half before launch. Shops and bespoke projects are paid in three stages.
Your domain.
Your domain, paid directly to the company you register it with, in your name.

Yours to keep.

Your domain is registered in your name, the content is yours, and you can move the site elsewhere if you ever want to. You also get a simple editor for your text, photos, services and prices, so everyday changes don't need me.

A website or Checkatrade?

Directory listings like Checkatrade, MyBuilder or Bark can bring you work, and if they pay for themselves, keep them. But you rent that page: the platform sets the rules, and the listing ends when you stop paying.

Someone sees your van, or gets your name from a neighbour. Before they ring, they look you up. Your own website is what they find: your work, your areas, your number, and nothing else competing for their attention. Plenty of trades do well with both.

“Really happy with the website made for my business, MasterTint UK. Great customer service, always quick to reply, and any changes I asked for were done the same day. Easy to get hold of whenever I needed. Would recommend to any business.”

How it works.

  1. Talk

A ten-minute call or a few questions on your phone. That's all I need from you.

  2. Design

You approve the homepage direction before the rest of the site takes shape.

  3. Build

I write the pages. You send your logo and photos on WhatsApp, and see it all on a private link before anything goes live.

  4. Launch

Your domain connected, Google basics done, and a walkthrough of how to update it.

Questions trades ask.

Are there monthly fees?

No. There's no hosting fee and nothing you have to keep paying me. You pay for your domain, and for any tools you choose (a booking system or Shopify, for example), directly to those companies. If you'd like me to look after the site, Care is £29 a month and you can cancel any time.

Who owns the website?

You do, once it's paid for. The domain is registered in your name, the content is yours and you can move the site elsewhere if you ever want to. I keep the reusable technical parts that I use across projects.

Do I need photos of my own work?

They help more than anything else, because customers want to see jobs like theirs. Phone photos are fine: send them on WhatsApp and I'll choose and place the best. If you're short of them, the site can start with what you have and grow as you finish jobs.

Can you show my Gas Safe, NICEIC or TrustMark details?

Yes, the ones you hold. I'll add them with your registration numbers so customers can check them on the scheme's own website. I don't verify them for you, and I won't add a badge for a scheme you're not part of.

What about Google and SEO?

Every site gets the technical groundwork: page titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap, fast loading and Search Console set up. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, and I won't. Your reviews, your Google Business Profile and your competition matter as much as the site itself.

How long does it take?

A one-page site takes a few days, most business websites about a week, and a shop or a bespoke build two to three weeks. The clock starts when your text and photos are ready, because that is usually what decides it rather than the building. Your written quote gives you a date.

Can I edit the site myself?

Yes. You get a simple editor for your text, photos, services, prices and opening hours, plus a walkthrough. You won't need me for everyday changes.

Do you work outside Lancashire?

Yes. Most of the work happens by phone, video call and email, so I work with businesses anywhere in the UK. Being nearby makes the first meeting easier, but it isn't required.

Your trade next?

Tell me what you do and where, and I'll show you what yours could look like. I reply within one working day, and there's nothing to pay unless you accept a written quote.
